Welcome to the 10th anniversary of the wonderful Yabba Dabba Doo Ball!
We have a fabulous evening lined up for you with some incredible performances, a delicious three-course meal, a thrilling auction and raffle with some truly spectacular prizes, and a dazzling fireworks display which will take your breath away.
All proceeds from tonight’s event will go to The Christie Charity. Over the years we have supported a range of projects at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, and this year we are fundraising for a ground-breaking research project that will transform the recognition and care for young adult cancer survivors with autism and ADHD.
In the UK, approximately 1,645 children aged 0-14 and 2,110 teenagers and young adults aged 15-24 are diagnosed with cancer each year.
Dr Hannah Slevin, a child and adolescent psychiatry specialist, is undertaking a PhD titled ‘Autism and ADHD in Childhood and Young Adult Cancer Survivors: Identifying the Care Gap.’ She will be sharing an overview of her upcoming work examining the rates of autism and ADHD in children, teenagers and young adults with cancer. She will explain why cancers that affects teenagers and young adults are different from those that typically affect older age groups, and why they need their own research programmes and specialist care. But in order to make this research a reality, we need your support, so please dig deep and help The Christie give our young cancer patients the care and treatment they deserve.
