The North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) serves people across the whole of North West; an area of over 5,500 square miles and 8 million people. We receive no government funding and are not part of the NHS, we are completely reliant on public donations. Each year we must raise over £12 million.
This year we are celebrating our 25th birthday and since 1999, our crews have responded to over 45,000 missions across the region. We are called out on average seven times a day, with each mission costing around £4,500. Last year we responded to over 3,100 emergencies, providing world-class, lifesaving care to people.
Your donations fund our three helicopters and four critical care vehicles which operate 365 days a year. Our combined crew of highly skilled consultant doctors and critical care paramedics provide enhanced pre-hospital care at the scene. This means they can carry out procedures which otherwise would only be available in a hospital environment, ultimately bringing the hospital to the patient.
