At Henshaws, we understand that sight loss can present unique challenges at every stage of a young person's development. The Sight Loss Children and Young People Team is dedicated to empowering children and adolescents who are visually impaired, along with their families. Our team is comprised of skilled professionals who specialise in visual impairment, offering personalised support, guidance, and educational resources designed to foster independence and confidence. Our services are tailored to meet the individual needs of each young person, ranging from early years support in developing foundational skills to transitional guidance for teenagers moving towards further education, training, or employment. We provide practical advice on assistive technology, mobility training, and access to mental health support, ensuring that every child and young person feels supported in overcoming the barriers they face due to visual impairment. We engage in advocacy and awareness-raising activities to promote inclusivity and understanding within schools and the wider community. Our goal is to ensure that children and young people with sight loss have the opportunities and tools they need to achieve their full potential, embracing a future without limits.

Destination Florida is a charity that helps children facing significant challenges to experience life-changing trips to Florida. We empower children facing unimaginable difficulties to embark on a journey beyond their imagination, where dreams and happiness soar. Gift magical moments of joy, respite and inspiration. Buckle up for an unforgettable adventure and give hope for a happier tomorrow. Today, Destination Florida is supported by a mobile hospital of 110 professionals, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and adult helpers accompanying each trip. We provide an incredible eight-day opportunity for 75 children from the North of England to visit Florida’s premier theme parks. From the thrilling Animal Kingdom to the enchanting Magic Kingdom, alongside the adventure-filled Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, these journeys create unforgettable experiences for inspirational children.
The Children's Adventure Farm Trust
The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) offers day visits, residential breaks and seasonal activity programmes, free of charge, to children whose lives are impacted by illness, disability and social disadvantage. Set on a beautiful 10-acre site in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, the charity provides a space for children to explore, play and make memories to last a lifetime in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether a child visits for a few hours or a few days there is an array of activities to suit each child’s needs and interests. From feeding the friendly animals to enjoying the adventure playground to making music or creating a masterpiece in the art room, there is something for every child to enjoy.
Derian House Children's Hospice
Derian House cares for more than 400 babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions from across the North West. We do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We never close to those who need us. We care for the whole family – from pregnancy and birth, up to the age of 26. We offer emotional and practical support to parents, siblings, and grandparents who need it. The money you raise could go towards giving families the chance to enjoy a splash session in our hydrotherapy pool; it could pay for a fun afternoon in the ball pit; in our state-of-the-art sensory room; or play time in our fully accessible gardens. It could pay for a music session, or even send a family on what could be their last holiday together. It cost £6 million to run services at Derian House last year. We rely on the generosity of our supporters for 70p in every £1, receiving just under 30% of our funding from the government. We’re proud to be Lancashire’s children’s hospice, helping children make happy memories and giving families care and support when they need it most.
