Welcome to the DEBRA Silent Auction!
DEBRA’s Dinner in the company of Jason Robinson OBE takes place on the 20th February. Hosted with the support from our friends at Reed Smith, guests will enjoy a delicious three-course dinner and wine followed by a fascinating interview and Q&A with dual-code, World Cup winning rugby legend, Jason Robinson OBE. Renowned sports broadcaster, journalist, and author Ian Stafford will be asking the questions. It promises to be an extraordinary evening, especially now with the Six Nations in full swing.
While I understand that not everyone can attend this event, I don't want you to miss out on the excitement. That's why we’re thrilled to introduce again our silent auction – an alternative way for you to be part of this important event and ‘BE the difference for EB’ this year.
Events like these are put on for your enjoyment and we really do hope you get involved, but they’re also an opportunity to raise much needed awareness and funds for DEBRA UK, the national medical research charity and patient support organisation for people living with epidermolysis bullosa (EB).
EB is an incredibly painful genetic skin blistering condition which causes the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. With skin as fragile as a butterfly’s wings, EB is often referred to as ‘butterfly skin’.
It is thought that 5,000 children and adults in the UK are affected by EB, but it could be much higher as it often goes undiagnosed. There are currently no cures and people with EB live in constant debilitating pain. In severe cases it can be fatal.
There is hope though, with the support of kind-hearted people like you, we can raise £5m by the end of 2024. With this funding, we can invest in a programme of enhanced community care and support which will improve quality of life for people living with EB today, and clinically test the existing licenced drugs identified as offering the greatest potential to reduce the blisters, pain, and itch of EB.

THE SILENT AUCTION WILL CLOSE AT 21:50 ON 20TH FEBRUARY 2024.
It is clearly marked in the descriptions where the full proceeds go directly to DEBRA. For all other items, everything bid above the minimum bid price PLUS a minimum of a 15% percent of the minimum bid starting price, will go to DEBRA.
