There are around 100 different sub-types of sarcoma.
About Sarcoma UK:
Sarcoma UK was founded by Roger Wilson CBE, a sarcoma patient, in 2011. The charity receives no government funding or donations from larger cancer charities relying solely on generous voluntary contributions and the energy and imagination of their tireless fundraisers. Sarcoma UK funds vital research, campaign for better treatments, and offers support for everyone affected by sarcoma.
Since 2009, the charity has committed over £5 million to over 70 research projects. The charity has recruited 1,233 patients into studies funded which have contributed to over 80 papers published and 116 papers.
The Charity Support Line was founded in 2016 and has had over 13,000 calls, texts and emails from over 3000 people.
Over 72% of the charity trustee board has been affected first-hand by sarcoma. The organisation’s Support Line and Support Groups have direct contact with patients, monitoring trends and gaps in services provision. In research, patient members of the Grant Review Panel ensure that the research they fund is relevant and essential to people affected by sarcoma.
Sarcoma UK Support Line experts are here for every person affected by sarcoma. Talk to us or email for information and support.
