Bottle of Fonseca Port from the Special Forces Club
Description
Special Forces Club was founded in 1945, initially for those who had served in the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and for members of kindred organisations. This tradition has continued to this day, the Club maintaining a close relationship with the US and like-minded groups in Australia, Canada and New Zealand; along with the successors of European and other resistance organisations. Unlike many service clubs the has always welcomed all ranks and men and women, reflecting the membership and spirit of the SOE and Special Forces today. The Clubs current membership is drawn primarily from UK Special Forces plus intelligence and security communities; both military and civilian.
The Club is in Knightsbridge close to Harrods. It is famous for its collection of photographs of members of SOE and OSS and those from post-WW2 era. Those members killed in action have their photographs framed in black. The Clubs original patron was the Queen Mother and is now Anne, the Princess Royal. This is not usually available to non-Club members so this an exclusive purchase. Shipping will be to your address but if times are convenient, you will be invited to the club to pick up your purchase and you will be given a personal tour to look at the clubs unique items and memorabilia.
Tasting Notes:
The fresh, intoxicating blackberry aromas are enhanced by a wonderfully aromatic, scented quality. A huge amount of backbone to this finely tuned port. Everything is in perfect balance.
The dark berry fruit flavours marry exquisitely with the tannins, leaving the mouth aching for more.
