'White Rhino'- Original by Robert Cordingley
Description
Robert Cordingley was born in Gloucestershire in 1982. His love for wildlife was fostered at an early age by regular visits to Paignton Zoo, sketchbook in hand. He gained a place at Falmouth College of Art and Design where he began to form his own, distinctive style described by the art historian Richard Ormond as belonging to “a naturalistic tradition but infused with the spirit of today.” Rob’s paintings are dramatically infused with colour and light and he employs both oils and acrylics. Rob paints cityscapes, landscapes and seascapes, but returns again and again to the birds and animals that fascinated him as a child.
He has always wanted to paint a Rhinoceros. This opportunity to support such a good cause at the same time was too good to miss. From a wonderful photograph he relished the chance to produce his own interpretation of the endangered White Rhino.
The portrait captures the strength and vulnerability of the White Rhino, brought to life with Rob’s signature vibrant style and attention to detail. A truly striking piece, it is a celebration of this iconic and endangered species.
