Description

Highly collectable art frame featuring a museum quality art print of “Debbie Harry” that has been mounted above an authentic hand signed signature from Debbie Harry herself  Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is undisputedly one of the most important and well-known artists of the 20th century.  In the 1970’s and 80’s he was commissioned by hundreds of the rich and famous to create their portraits. Warhol’s practice of creating commissioned portraits allowed him the opportunity to document the world around him and acts as a lasting record of the European and American culture of that time In 1980 Warhol agreed to create a piece live on stage but needed a subject. For Warhol there could be only one and her name was Debbie Harry. The longtime frontwoman and dominant force behind Blondie, was the epitome of cool, ferocious, frenetic, effortless, nonchalant and without doubt the most watchable person in the room. With the scene set Warhol began the work by capturing an image of Harry and then using ProPaint (still in early testing) to manipulate the image’s colours. It left the piece with a striking resemblance to Warhol’s screen prints of old like his brilliant Marilyn Monroe, Elvis or Liza Minelli. Warhol’s Debbie Harry portraits have become iconic pieces of art Debbie Harry – “Andy put me on the cover of Interview magazine and he threw a party for us at Studio 54 when “Heart of Glass” went to number one in America. Now that we weren’t on the road, we had gotten to know him a little, and the idea of Andy’s doing my portrait came up; somewhere, at some point, Andy had remarked that if he could have anyone else’s face, it would be mine. I was just stunned and humbled” The signature card mounted below this print is hand signed by Debbie Harry and comes with a certificate of authenticity making this stunning frame highly collectable  A fabulous opportunity to own a beautifully framed, iconic and hand signed collectable art frame from a great artist.
