Exquisite Handmade Singing Bowl from Nepal
Description
Handmade Singing Bowls are a type of standing bell in the Buddhist tradition, which produces a soothing musical tune and are hand hammered from a billet of mixed metals (7 in total). After each hammering session, they are heated in an open furnace to about 500C The bowl we have takes about 15 hours to make. The inscriptions say ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ - a general mantra for calm. The sound that the bowl makes is the sacred syllable ‘Om’. This Singing Bowl was brought to Sweden by the Nepal project team on their recent visit. They brought back this unique example of Nepalese craftsmanship directly from the craftsman who made it.
