Original Copper Etching, Limited Edition Number 1/12 - 'Elsa where it all began' by Knox Field
Description
"Elsa, from her birth in 1958, and the subsequent Born Free film about her, has done more for animal conservation than any other animal of her day worldwide. It was, therefore, a pleasure to try and capture in copper this icon of my youth. This is a unique edition to celebrate the life of Elsa and all she has done for so many”. Knox Field
This uniquely crafted ode to Elsa is the first of 12 limited editions. In addition to donating 100% of the proceeds from the first etching to Born Free, a further donation of 10% each will be made to the Born Free Foundation and the Elsa Conservation Trust on the remaining eleven limited edition etchings post the auction.
Where this unique copper etching could go; the bathroom, kids bedroom, kitchen, bar, pool house, yacht, or ask your interior designer where.
Knox Field was initially tutored by renowned sculptor, Mark Coreth. Knox then joined Lockbund Fine Art Casting Foundry in Oxfordshire. Here he honed his skills for three years as a metal chaser. This experience provided him with a solid foundation in the fine art casting process, as well as expertise in welding, Formwork, and patination—a set of invaluable skills for his chosen craft. Since then Knox-Field's sculptures have earned a reputation for capturing the beautiful presence and movement of the world's predatory creatures. Although this is where he has made his name, his repertoire extends to all wildlife.
Knox Field uses the mood-enhancing limited edition copper etching medium to bring endangered animals closer to people in their homes or offices in a unique way that becomes part of that family or business. His 2D copper etchings of lions, rhinos and tigers, give a unique outlook on these endangered animals and can be hung in homes, boardrooms, or even yachts, as a standout piece of Art.
Looking ahead, Knox envisions a more location-based experience for his artistic endeavours. He plans to travel to conservation areas worldwide, drawing inspiration from local wildlife to create unique works of art. His aim is to showcase these creations, marking the next chapter in his evolving career as an esteemed animal sculptor.
He accepts private commissions for animals of varying sizes and species, has secured positions in galleries across the UK, and actively participates in shows, competitions, and art auctions. His most exciting recent move has been his entrance into the world of large public works.
This unique copper etching ""Elsa where it all Began"" by Knox Field with an authentication letter signed by Virginia McKenna is donated by Peter Worrall (Artist Agent) to commemorate his amazing great Uncle Eric Sherbrooke Walker MC, Baden Powell's first secretary, WW1 pilot and founder of Treetops and Outspan in 1928, where Princess Elizabeth became Queen. Eric knew the Adamson's well, allowing one of his properties to be used for the filming of Born Free and, uniquely, knew both the original Elsa and the filmed one.
In addition to donating the proceeds from the first etching in full to Born Free, a further donation of 10% each will be made to the Born Free Foundation and the Elsa Conservation Trust on the remaining eleven limited editions post the auction. Contact peterworrall2020@gmail for details.
