Description

Tilly Flory is an emerging artist with a profound connection to the natural world. Having pursued Art at the University of Reading, Tilly's creative journey is centred around capturing the essence of wildlife using delicate pencil strokes and the striking contrasts of black and white acrylic paint.

Her artistic expression is born from a deep affinity with nature, fuelled by a profound love for animals and the environment. Tilly's artworks aim to breathe life into the beauty and diversity of nature's fleeting moments in time, ranging from the majestic lions of the savannah to the elusive creatures of the deep forests.

Tilly deliberately selects unremarkable yet sincere scenes as the foundation for her work. This choice allows the focus to shift away from the grand and obvious beauties within nature, emphasizing the significance of small moments that often go unnoticed.

With each art piece, Tilly not only seeks to convey the grace and power of these creatures but also strives to raise awareness about conservation efforts. Through her art, she hopes to inspire others to appreciate and protect the fragile ecosystems that sustain life on our planet.

The piece that Tilly has chosen to   donate to fundraise for Born Free is a hyper realistic pencil drawing named ‘Affinity in Kinship’. Using pencil as her medium of choice Tilly captures a variety of textures, from the soft undercoat on the cubs neck to the glisten of moisture on the nose. This piece captures the essence of two young cubs who lean on one another in a playful and comforting manner. As lions are the only big cats to continuously live with their family members and have complex relationships within each pride, these two cubs may face many troubles and triumphs together where they rely on this strong sibling bond highlighted within this piece.
