Originally from Kenya, he studied History of Art at Leeds University before training and teaching at Charles Cecil Studios and Studio Della Statua in Florence. His early work gained recognition for its mastery of traditional portraiture and sculpture, but since relocating to London, Vaulkhard has embraced a more experimental approach. Another aspect of his creative practice is crafting handmade paper collage portraits of iconic figures. James meticulously layers paper to create depth and character in each piece.
