King 'Le roi des lions de Lyon' by Margo Brault (Original Oil)
Description
Oil on Canvas of King.
"This painting is from a Shamwari update video about the lions which were rescued from Paris and from Lyon, France. At minute 1:29, we see KING jumping up onto his jungle gym. I simply fell in love with King’s lithe and muscular silhouette. Eons of evolution worked to fine-tune the frame, sinew and lethal agility necessary to survive in the wild. This body evokes ancient history while remaining, well, … gorgeous! I just provided a pedestal from which we can better worship our KING". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M5VNqTF6f4
Margo Brault, a wildlife artist based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is dedicated to supporting animal welfare and conservation through her art. Originally from Alberta, Canada, Margo has exhibited widely, including at the Art League of Baton Rouge and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
She is generously donating three oil-on-canvas paintings to Born Free, inspired by moments captured in videos of lions Born Free has rescued.
As a francophone, Margo enjoyed giving French titles to these paintings since the city from which these lions were rescued, Lyon, was too rich a pun to ignore. “Those videos were so full of wonderful dynamic images and great lighting (kudos to your videographer) I had a hard time deciding what to paint!” says Margo
Margo’s work highlights her deep commitment to wildlife conservation and supporting vital causes. On her website, margobraultart.net, Margo features artwork of endangered animals which she paints from video clips of real-life rescue and conservation projects. Margo donates 20% of her website sales to the organizations behind each featured project.
