Double Magnum Red Château La Mission Haut-Brion
Description
Oh Look – It’s Wine O-Clock!
A double magnum of one of the finest red wines produced by the Domaine Clarence Dillon estate in Bordeaux. Since their inception in 1935, this family company have become one of the key players in the Bordeaux wine scene, producing some of the world’s finest wines. Many, including this wonderful vintage, retail for hundreds of pounds.
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, harvested from mid-September to early October and bottled in May 2018, this Red Château La Mission Haut-Brion from 2016 is the epitome of a wine made from fruit with just the right degree of maturity. An abundance of early rain followed by a dry summer, combined with fresh nights and warm days, have resulted in a wine that is rich in colour yet also fresh and fruity.
The wine has a very intense, remarkable garnet-red colour. The nose shows impressively ripe fruit concentration and complexity, while the taste starts out generous, sweet and broad-based. It continues on the palate to reveal increasing body and power as you indulge, with the sheer class and sophistication of the tannin obvious. 2016’s La Mission Haut-Brion is certainly the most complete and charming the château has created for a long time. This truly is a wine to savour. 14%.
